Beware! The measurements in this recipe are incorrect. When I was making it for a church social I should have listened to my brain. I'm not a novice in the kitchen, but I followed the recipe exactly even though my gut told me to add 1/2 cup more graham cracker crumbs because it didn't look like enough to cover the bottom of the pan. It wasn't. Also 2 cups of each kind of chips is too much. Use one cup of each. Crust was too thin and I wasted the extra chips. This is a rich recipe anyway and the extras add extra fat and calories.-05 Jan 2002

This is pretty much the standard recipe. Agree with the other review that said that the crust was too thin. Double the graham cracker crumbs. I also put less chips than called for and prefer walnuts. This is a rich dessert but always goes fast. Chocolate lovers will enjoy.-15 Nov 2002

Seven Layer Bars

Full of rich chocolate chips, crunchy graham cracker crumbs and flaked coconut, Seven Layer Bars are a classic treat everyone loves. Also called Magic Cookie Bars, this recipe is made with sweetened condensed milk and comes together quickly and easily. Make it with, or without, nuts to suit your tastes.

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

I’ve shared lots of variations on seven layer cookie bars over the years. These festive Holiday Magic Cookie Bars have been a favorite every year and my peanut butter loving friends go wild for the Chocolate Peanut Butter Magic Cookie Bars I make.

I was surprised to realize that I’d yet to share a recipe for a simple old-fashioned 7 layer magic cookie bar! This recipe is based on the Eagle Brand Magic Cookie Bars–the one shared on cans of sweetened condensed milk.

While called many things, 7 Layer Bars, Magic Bars, Seven Layer Cookies, Magic Cookie Bars… the list goes on, chances are good you’ve tasted these delicious treats at some point in your life.

There’s a reason this recipe is an enduring classic!

As you can see, I love to dress my Magic Cookie Bars up for the holidays by adding some M&Ms chocolate candies. This is such a fun way to give them a bit of color and added texture. You can replace the chocolate chips, or just mix in some M&Ms.

Seven Layer Bars

Magic Bars include something for everyone and that’s part of their appeal. The traditional recipe includes seven ingredients: butter, graham cracker crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and nuts.

A good 7 layer magic cookie bar starts with a simple graham cracker crust.

You combine graham cracker cookie crumbs with melted butter then pour it into a baking pan. Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk goes on top of that crust, followed by generous layers of chocolate chips and flaked coconut.

If sticking with the traditional seven layer recipe, butterscotch chips are also included. Personally I find the butterscotch chips make it a bit too sweet, and I like sweet! However feel free to add them if you like.

A traditional 7 layer bar also includes nuts like pecans or walnuts. I skipped adding the nuts to these due to an allergy, but the crunchy nut layer adds so much to a magic cookie bar.

Both pecans and walnuts taste great in this recipe or you can use a combination of both.

After baking and slicing, Magic Cookie Bars are ready to slice and serve, or store in a covered container.

How To Make Magic Cookie Bars

2. In a medium size bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter and mix until well combined. Pour mixture into prepared baking pan and gently press to create a crust that covers the entire bottom of the pan.

4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until beginning to lightly brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool for approximately 5-10 minutes. Then, while still warm, loosen bars from the side of the pan gently to prevent them from sticking. Cut into bars. Store tightly covered.

7 cup barfi recipe | 7 cup cake | seven cup burfi | seven cup burfi with detailed photo and video recipe. a classic south indian dessert recipe made with 7 cups of ingredients. it is a popular south indian dessert recipe which is generally made during the festival season to share with family and friends. the texture and colour are very similar to mysore pak or milk cake, yet it has its own unique taste and flavour.
7 cup barfi recipe | 7 cup cake | seven cup burfi | seven cup burfi with step by step photo and video recipe. barfi aka indian fudge is a popular indian sweets variety known for its texture and shape. generally it is made with one single hero ingredient with other supporting ingredients to shape and its flavour. however there is this recipe known as 7 cup barfi recipe from south india made with 7 different hero ingredients.

i had posted this recipe during my early stage of blogging. but as part of my revisiting my old recipe, i am posting the better version of 7 cup barfi recipe. the main difference as such is the texture of the barfi. in my previous version, i had posted the 7 cup burfi with harder version. i got much feedback about the same and i thought of sharing a moist version. having said that i have not increased or decreased any ingredient quantity. but i have introduced 2 changes. first one is the stirring. i have continuously stirred the mixture throughout the recipe and the other one is cooking time. i have reduced the cooking time in this process which should help to retain the moist level.

anyway, i would like to highlight some tips, suggestions and variations for a moist 7 cup barfi recipe. firstly, you may think that you have to use 7 full cup of each ingredient to make this dessert. it is recommended to use a full cup, but you can also reduce the quantity, for instance, half cup each. secondly, it might be overwhelming to continuously stir it, till it reaches desired consistency. but it is unavoidable and you need to be patient about it. lastly, the shelf life of this sweet is moderate and it last longs for a week. having said that it would dry it and it may lose its moistness.

finally, i request you to check my other detailed indian sweets recipes collection with this post of 7 cup barfi recipe. it mainly includes recipes like 7 cup burfi, mawa barfi, karadantu, malai barfi, aate ki barfi, mango burfi, kesar burfi, kaju katli, coconut burfi, pista badam barfi. in addition, to these, i would also like to highlight my other detailed recipes collection like,

Coconut Magic Bars Recipe

These coconut magic bars (sometimes called magic cookie bars or even just magic bars) are so easy to make that it’s almost funny.

It doesn’t seem like something so TASTY could result from layering a few ingredients in a baking dish. Y’all, these coconut magic bars are like HEAVEN.

For a different twist, try these decadent mint chocolate magic bars.

I don’t typically go for dessert recipes that are quite this decadent, but I am just such a huge fan of the flavor combination. I am in love with coconut, chocolate, and pecans.

I could literally eat a whole pan of these bars!

Even though these aren’t exactly a festive holiday dessert, I also love making them for our Christmas celebrations. My whole family looks forward to these scrumptious coconut magic cookie bars. If you’re looking for more easy desserts, don’t miss my yummy and simple cherry dump cake recipe.

For those who care to delve into the land of intensely divine desserts, there is no better place to start than with this Inn Cuisine Seven Layers Dessert. Traditionally, this dessert is referred to as the Seven Layer Cookie and for the extremely brave the recipe can be tweaked to accommodate the making of a Ten Layer Cookies. The Ten Layer Cookies consequentially involves the extra ingredients of English toffee, Dulce de Leche and walnuts.

These cookie bars offer an insane amount of ingredients and indulgent value for those who both bake and partake in their consumption. Marrying flavors and ingredients that include graham crackers, chocolate chips, butterscotch and walnuts, this Inn Cuisine Seven Layers Dessert is a mouthful—both literally and metaphorically.

Ingredients in Paleo Magic Cookie Bars

Even though these cookie bars have seven layers, they are easy to make. The hardest part is the caramel. And, not because it is actually hard to make, but because it takes time (and patience).

But, good news! You may use a store-bought caramel sauce if you want to save time or don't feel up to making your own.

Sure thing. Just blitz together 250g digestive biscuits or graham crackers in a processor and mix through 100g of melted butter. Press this into the base of your lined tin. Now they’re only 6 ingredients and you don’t even have to turn on the oven.

What are you waiting for? Chewy Caramel Coconut Bars are gooey, sweet and super scrumptious and I don’t know about you, but I can never say no to a treat I can freeze ready for when a craving hits.
